Description
Product Overview
The Zenith Stamper is a laser-cut, modular grain crusher that utilizes a traditional “trip hammer” design. By using a rotating cam to lift a heavy vertical pestle and letting gravity do the crushing work, this model demonstrates the power of intermittent motion. It is an ideal educational tool for exploring physics, ancient agricultural technology, and automated mechanical systems.
How It Works: The Mechanism
-
Input: A hand-crank (or motor) turns the central camshaft.
-
The “Trip”: As the cam rotates, it catches the lug on the vertical stamper arm, lifting it against gravity.
-
The Strike: Once the cam clears the lug, the arm falls rapidly, delivering a high-impact force to the grain held in the mortar base below.
-
Repetition: The offset cam ensures a rhythmic, consistent striking force, allowing for hands-free crushing once the grain is loaded.
Key Features
-
Cam-Driven Efficiency: Uses a calculated lobe shape to maximize lift height while minimizing the torque required from the user.
-
Stable A-Frame Support: The triangular bracing ensures the pivot point remains rigid even during heavy striking cycles.
-
Modular MDF Construction: Lightweight yet structurally sound, allowing for easy assembly and clear visibility of moving parts.
-
Variable Impact Force: Users can add weighted “washers” to the top of the vertical arm to increase the crushing pressure for harder grains.
